After all the defeats and disappointments they have gone through, the residents of Björnstad receive another blow: the hockey club in which everyone places their hope for a better life will soon be dissolved. But salvation appears from where no one expects it. A "visionary" politician, going against the current, sees in the difficult situation of the club an opportunity to secure his seat in the new elections. The salvation proposal he makes to the club's director, Peter Andersson, is a game full of compromises that will further divide the community.
